I got more storage

750GB MyBook

750GB MyBook

I have been looking at expanding my PC’s storage capacity for a couple of months now. I had a 120GB Freecom external hard drive that has stopped working, I was lucky that it was the connections on the case rather than the hard drive itself so I didn’t lose any data. That is now sat in my Freecom MediaPlayer full of this seasons TV episodes and some movies. The 2 hard drive in the PC are also getting full so it was definitely time to make my move.

I decided to go external again for the simple reason that the PC already had 2 hard drives in and I often need to transfer files to and from the laptop and my PC at work too. I was ideally looking for something around the 1 TB mark, just to say I had that much storage really. I ended up with a 750 Gig Western Digital MyBook for £80. The usable space on the drive is 700 Gig to that works out 12p per Gig of storage. The MyBook is very sleek in design and sports a very nice blue glowing light when switched on that moves side to side/up and down when data is being transferred.

I have backed up a lot of data onto the MyBook already including over 200 Gig of video files, this was done pretty quickly and without any problems at all . The only thing I do have to say is that the drive came with some software and autorun files actually on the external drive. When running these a screen popped up with buttons on but no text or description as to what each button did. That said the drive works great and is currently my prize piece of tech.
